yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

The assignment was to create a visual analogy between an object and a card with a painting on it. I have no idea what a visual analogy is but I chose a card with a painting of the ocean and bottles make me think of the ocean. I put water in the bottle thinking this might be an analogy. Here it is.

Lets get a little perspective

This is a linear perspective drawing done from within the classroom. The strapping young lad in the foreground is my friend Travis, who draws in a full spread eagle.

Shell

The assignment was to draw this still life of a shell on a column, emulating an artist's style different from our own. I chose an artist who I cannot remember, but they drew with mainly mono-directional lines in pen and ink. I had never used pen and ink before so I decided to give it a try. I used a a traditional pen that needs to be dipped in ink, and I discovered that I cannot draw straight lines.

Sorry Noisehead

Our next assignment was to take a small swatch of a large piece and reproduce it emphasizing texture. I saw this great piece by Noisehead from the Cans festival in London and chose to reporduce the lips/nose area. I tried to recreate a graffiti feels, but I fear that I have merely bastardized a fine art that should be kept on the streets and out of the classroom.
Here is the origional.

Positive/ Negative space

This is the result of the first project we did in AP art. The assignment was to draw a still life using only positive and negative space. I diverged from the assignment and hinted at form throughout the drawing.

Skulls

Here is a skull study that I did independantly last year.
